Tiempo Libre is the San Diego Printmaking Society’s community open studio program for experienced printmakers.

It is dedicated time for members to use the studio to work independently on their own printmaking projects in a shared, collaborative environment. Unlike SDPS classes or workshops, Tiempo Libre is not instructional. Participants are expected to have prior experience with the printmaking processes and equipment they plan to use.

During our initial launch, access to Tiempo Libre is available through membership while we continue building the long term financial sustainability of the studio.

Current Studio Access

Fridays

Open to all members with a community membership or higher on a first come, first served basis.

Saturdays

Reserved for Gold Membership and higher, providing additional studio access and expanded working time.

Purpose

Tiempo Libre exists to:

Provide affordable access to professional printmaking facilities.

• Support artists developing independent work.

• Foster collaboration and community among printmakers.

• Encourage consistent studio practice outside of formal classes.

• Build a sustainable, artist run printmaking community in San Diego.

Community is at the heart of the San Diego Printmaking Society. If membership cost is a barrier to participating in Tiempo Libre, please reach out. We believe everyone deserves access to printmaking, and we will do our best to find a way to welcome you into the studio through reduced cost memberships, scholarships, volunteer opportunities, or other community supported pathways whenever possible.
