Relief Printmaking Workshop with Chloe Riley

Discover the fundamentals of relief printmaking in this one-day, hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how to transfer an original drawing or image onto a linoleum block, carve the design using professional carving tools, ink the block with professional relief printing inks, and produce a small edition of original prints on archival printmaking paper.

Designed for beginners, this workshop introduces the complete relief printing process while emphasizing safe carving techniques, proper inking methods, and hand-printing practices. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with their carved linoleum block and a collection of their own original prints.

Chloe Riley is a Tucson-born and raised Black mixed media artist and printmaker with a family rooted in New Orleans. She received a BFA in Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting, printmaking and drawing from the University of Arizona. She is the former co-president of The Sienna Collective, which supported students of color in the arts at the University of Arizona. Her work highlights Black culture and life through her own lens, using nostalgia and memory to portray the African American figure and soul.
